Computation method
Method type: formula
Count inclusively from Janma Nakshatra to the active Nakshatra around the 27-star cycle, reduce the count to a repeating nine-Tara cycle, and classify the configured auspicious Tara numbers.
Process
- Look up both canonical Nakshatra indices.
- Compute the wrapped inclusive count from 1 through 27.
- Reduce that count to Tara number 1 through 9.
- Map to Janma, Sampat, Vipat, Kshema, Pratyak, Sadhana, Naidhana, Mitra, or Parama Mitra.
- Mark 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9 auspicious; a group passes good_for_all only if every member is auspicious.
Formulae
Tara number
c=((index(day)-index(janma)) mod 27)+1; tara=((c-1) mod 9)+1- c: inclusive cyclic Nakshatra count
Worked example
Ashvini birth star, Pushya active star
Inputs
- Ashvini index: 0
- Pushya index: 7
Calculation
- Inclusive count = ((7 - 0) mod 27) + 1 = 8.
- Tara number = 8, named Mitra.
- 8 is in AUSPICIOUS_TARAS.
Result
- Tara: 8 Mitra
- Auspicious: true
Method notes
- This project follows the disclosed Telugu convention that Tara 1 Janma is avoid rather than auspicious.

The group exists to expose evidence debt and grants no umbrella textual authority; each component needs its own inspected rule table and regional boundary.
